Toutiao Officially Access Douyin E-commerce! Adding Shopping Channel Linked to TikTok’s Chinese version, Douyin.

On 20 October (yesterday), Toutiao APP launched a shopping channel. This channel is located in the function bar of the search result page. Users can search for products in the form of search keywords and place an order for purchase. The products are provided by Douyin e-commerce.

Toutiao’s shopping channel is a traditional shelf e-commerce model with double masonry layout information flow. Compared with Douyin Mall, it is almost the same except that there is no independent discount section.

In fact, as early as May this year, Toutiao upgraded the live broadcast section as a whole: “The upgraded live broadcast service will be provided by Douyin.” The live broadcast rights in the user’s Toutiao account can be transferred to the Douyin account, and the content broadcasted by the Douyin account can be distributed on Douyin, Toutiao and Xigua Video at the same time.

Not only the live broadcast section, but the information flow recommendation on the homepage will also recommend the ongoing live broadcast to users. It is said that Toutiao is doing everything possible to create more trading opportunities for Douyin e-commerce.

In May, at the second ecological conference of Douyin E-commerce, Douyin officially revealed that the GMV target of Douyin E-commerce this year is at least one trillion yuan. In order to achieve this goal, this year’s Douyin fixed the “mall” as a permanent section and upgraded it to “Global Interest E-commerce”. Nowadays, the e-commerce sector is frequently integrated into Toutiao APP, and probably does not want to let go of any possibility of reaching a deal.

After all, Douyin belongs to the same company as Douyin. Douyin uses Toutiao as a redirect tool due to its huge user scale.

In July this year, the 2022 Semi-annual China Mobile Internet Strength Value List compiled by QUEST MOBILE showed that Toutiao ranked among the top 20 “Players with 100 million users” with 340 million monthly active users. At the same time, Toutiao is also a comprehensive information platform with the highest user activity.
